Diagnose Transmission Line Discontinuities with TDR

In XFdtd, time-domain impedance values can be generated for each port, allowing impedance discontinuities to be detected in transmission lines as per the techniques of time-domain reflectometry (TDR).

TDR and TDT Impedance results are only available when a single active port is present in a run, and only when the excitation waveform is a Gaussian pulse or an Automatic waveform with a 0 Hz lower frequency bound.

In XF7 (Release 7.2.2 and above), TDR Impedance result can be viewed from Results > Result Type > TDR Impedance. In the below snapshot, a TDR plot from a half-wave dipole is displayed.
